About Us

A 1972 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Scott entered the corporate world after serving with the U.S. Army in an Armor Battalion in what was, then, West Germany. Typical corporate assignments with The Kroger Company and Levi Strauss in the Midwest included both engineering and management roles at the manufacturing plant level.

With McCormick & Co., in Baltimore, Scott advanced to Plant Manager of McCormick's largest plant for 5 years and 3 years as the Director of Operations for the Flavor Division responsible for 6 plants nationwide.

After graduating from Loyola College in Baltimore in 1979, Marilyn worked for McCormick & Company and Proctor & Gamble as a Human Resources professional managing HR activities at both the manufacturing plant and division levels. Her expertise in employee relations, benefits, and compensation is a real asset to any business with employment opportunities.

Leaving the security of corporate life, Scott, Marilyn, son Chris, and Cocker Spaniel, Arthur, purchased The Lafayette Inn in Easton, PA, in January, 1997. This 18 guest room bed and breakfast joined Select Registry in 2000, and enjoyed enviable growth for the nine years the Bushnell's owned the inn. Highlights included hosting ABC's Town Hall meeting after the President's State of the Union address, Good Morning America, a number of celebrity guests including Ellen DeGeneres, Lily Tomlin, Jose Carreras, Neil Sedaka, Kenny Loggins and his band, as well as a number of dignitaries and guests of Lafayette College. The Bushnell's were honored with the Entrepreneurial Spirit award from the Twin Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce and by the trustees of Lafayette College.

Selling their inn in July, 2005, Scott and Marilyn moved to Ocean City, MD., where they now help aspiring and veteran innkeepers realize their dreams of getting in, realizing success, and getting out of the innkeeping business. Marilyn also has her real estate license, and Chris has earned his Eagle Scout Rank with the Boy Scouts. Scott teaches courses for aspiring innkeepers as well as speaking to business and innkeeping organizations.
